As most will know, The formal Naval Air Station in Lee on the Solent is currently undergoing major regeneration. The majority of which is focused towards the development of 200 new homes – 120 private and 80 affordable.
The team at RPS arranged a meeting at the marketing suite at the new Daedalus Village site, to really get a feel for what this will offer home movers in our community.
Speaking with the helpful and friendly advisors at the marketing suite, it was clear that the site has been carefully planned. With a lot of thought going into the positioning of the new homes. Offering a range of starter homes the development also caters for larger family homes with four bedroom detached properties, appealing to the majority of local buyers requirements.
The marketing suite has an interactive, built in touch screen, showing the different home styles available for reservation. The site plan, along with CGI images are also shown to give a feel for how the development will look once completed.
It’s interesting to note that the walkways and cycle paths being added to the site. This opens up the many seaside walks and local area amenities for easy access reducing the need for a car. Open spaces have also been allocated across the site for recreational usage.
The Daedalus site was the former home to the Royal Naval Air Station, HMS Daedalus. Now Daedalus Airfield is in place and remains as a civil airfield. Most local residents are aware of the new homes development on Daedalus as well as the history behind the site. I, along with many, feel it’s important we embrace the changes happening across the area of Lee on the Solent whilst remaining sympathetic to its history. It’s important that the heritage of Lee on the Solent is preserved, and developers are mindful of this when developing new sites.
Wates are the property developer for the site who are experienced in larger developments across the UK. Most importantly, Wates have been working very closely with Homes England and Gosport Borough Council to make sure the site is sympathetically developed..
Overall, the team at RPS feel very positive about the new development at Daedalus. A great addition to the area and moves our beautiful seaside town into the future by providing much needed housing.
All the team at RPS are passionate about improvements to the area and love the history behind Lee on the Solent. If you haven’t been into the office to see the old development map of Lee, please feel free to pop in!
