Daedalus Village – New Homes In Lee on the Solent

As most will know, The formal Naval Air Station in Lee on the Solent is currently undergoing major regeneration. The majority of which is focused towards the development of 200 new homes, 120 private and 80 affordable for local people.

The team at RPS arranged a meeting at the marketing suite at the new Daedalus Village site recently, to really get a feel for what is being built, the site layout and what this will offer home movers in our community.

Speaking with the helpful and friendly advisors from at the marketing suite it was clear that the site has been carefully planned; with a lot of thought going into the positioning of the new homes as well as having a range of two, three and four bedroom homes appealing to the majority of local buyers requirements.

The marketing suite has an interactive, built in touch screen showing the different home styles available for reservation on this first release. The site plan, along with CGI images are also shown to give a feel for how the development will look once completed.

It’s interesting to note that the walkways and cycle paths that will be added to the site, so that the many seaside walks and local area amenities are accessed with ease without the need to use a car. Open spaces have also been allocated across the site for recreational usage.

The Daedalus site was the former home to the Royal Naval Air Station, HMS Daedalus and now Daedalus Airfield remains as a civil airfield.  Most local residents are aware of the new homes development on the Daedalus site as well as the history behind the site. I, along with many, feel it’s important we embrace the changes happening across the area of Lee on the Solent whilst remaining sympathetic to its history.  It’s important that the heritage of Lee on the Solent is preserved, and developers are mindful of this when developing new sites.

Wates, the developer for the site, is experienced in larger developments across the UK and have been working very closely with Homes England and Gosport Borough Council to make sure the site is sympathetically developed, whilst providing much needed housing to the local community.

Overall, the team at RPS feel very positive about the new development at Daedalus. We feel it’s a great addition to Lee on the Solent and moves our beautiful seaside district further into the future by providing much needed housing.
